grandma jones' sour cream cookies

  • 1/2 cup Butter
  • 1 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teas. Vanilla
  • 4 1/2 cups Flour
  • 2 teas. Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teas. Soda
  • 1/2 teas. Salt
  • 1 cup Sour Cream (whipping cream that is old and stinky... yum)

Thoroughly cream butter and sugar, add vanilla and eggs, mix well. Sift together the dry ingredients. Add them alternately with the sour cream, mix well after each addition. Roll out and cut out and place on cookie sheets.
Bake at 450 degrees for 8 - 10 minutes.

Frosting: Powdered Sugar, canned milk, lemon juice, lemon and vanilla extract. Maybe a little butter, softened.

The boys and I crept out last night to leave these Halloween goodies on friends' doorsteps. They  had a blast knocking and running. We left a little note with the goods... you can find it at www.beenbooed.com.   Basically it  is a chain letter of sorts, having the goody receiver make goodies for two more friends, and on and on it goes. It's called being "Boo'ed." Happy Halloween!

Thanks for the recipe Aunt Mary!

These were the staple growing up and they are nummy and yummy. Cute decorating. Has your neighborhood kept the "booing" going?
